Ed R. Haptonstall, 61 of Onslow died on Saturday evening at the Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. Memorial services for Ed will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, friends may call after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Edward was born on February 5th, 1953 son of Alton and Blanche Joanne Stanton Haptonstall. He married Linda Lacey on February 15, 2002 in Nebraska, she survives. Ed served honorably in the US Army for eighteen years, and was currently working as a welder with Welter Storage and Equipment in Monticello.

He enjoyed target shooting on the range, and to hunt, fish and trap and spend time in the outdoors. Most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife Linda of Onslow, daughter Gail Haptonstall of Anamosa, four stepchildren; Brian Marr of Oxford Junction, Gary (Kelly) Marr of Hudson, Iowa, Dennis (Linda) Marr of Elizabeth, Colorado Kimberly (Jeremy) Krutzfeld of Oxford Junction. Six Grandchildren, and two brothers, John (Eloise) Haptonstall of Smithland, Iowa and Bob of Souix City, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Memorials are preferred.
