Dolores C. Banowetz, 95, formerly from Maquoketa, passed away at Catholic Care Center in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, May 30, 2015 The rosary will be recited by Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Raphael 1156 at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015. Visitation will be from 7:15 – 8:30 p.m. with a time of memory sharing at 8:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 6, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Maquoketa. Dolores was born on March 3, 1920, in Sugar Creek, Clinton County, Iowa to Louis & Anna Teshak Boehmer. She married Lawrence Banowetz on September 25, 1939. They farmed north of Maquoketa for many years in the Esgate community. After moving to town she and Lawrence worked at Maquoketa Medical Center. She volunteered many hours at Sacred Heart Elementary School and at the church as a sacristan. Dolores is survived by three children, David (Arleen) Banowetz, Wichita, Kansas; Bernadette (Ken) Siebert, Ames, Iowa; and Virgil (Diane) Banowetz, Naperville, Illinois. She has 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, and a daughter, Viola Schuster, and 2 sisters, Rita Banowetz, and Marie Boehmer.

In lieu of flowers a Dolores C. Banowetz memorial fund has been established.
