Delbert N. Heiar, 90, of Springbrook, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Springbrook. Family and friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Springbrook, where a vigil service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Also visitation will be held from 9:30a.m. until the start of service Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Springbrook, Iowa. Lahey Funeral & Cremation Services in Maquoketa is in charge of arrangements. Delbert N. Heiar was born June 22, 1922 near St. Donatus to Alois and Agnes (Malone) Heiar. On October 20, 1943, he was united in marriage to Dolores Michel in Springbrook. She died on February 1, 2000. Delbert farmed all his life in Springbrook until 1995. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Springbrook. He loved to visit, and take Sunday rides. He was known for his good sense of humor. Delbert is survived by seven children; Fr. James Heiar of Epworth , Sister Janet Heiar of Ft. Yates, ND, Anna Mae (Jack) Tebbe of Maquoketa, "Peg" (Tom) Manderscheid of Grand Haven, MI, Barbara (Dennis) Tebbe of Maquoketa, Stephen (Peggy) Heiar and Mark (Connie) Heiar of Spragueville, 15 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-grandchildren, and two sisters; Rita Clasen and Mary Ernst of Bellevue. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother Leo, two sisters; Theresa, Dorothy, and a son-in-law Dan Lanham. A special thanks to the staff at Mill Valley Care Center and Hospice of Jackson County for their excellent care for Dad. A Delbert Heiar memorial fund has been established.
