David Michael Gibbs, 59, passed away on Sunday, February 10. 2013. He was born June 30, 1953 to Donald and Irma (Mesch) Gibbs in Dubuque, Iowa. Services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook, IA. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Burial will be in the St. Joe's Cemetery in Bellevue, IA. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a Third Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He was an instructor of motorcycle safety. He is survived by his mother Irma Gibbs of Springbrook, sister Susan (Paul) Williams of Anaheim, CA, Chuck Gibbs and his fiancé Laney of Davenport, Mark Gibbs of Topeka, KS, Paul (Sonja) Gibbs of Marion, John (Karen) Gibbs of Spragueville, Patrick Gibbs of Marion, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other dear friends and neighbors whose lives he touched and who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Donald who passed away on November 10, 2007, and grandparents. David's love of helping others will be his legacy. He also had a deep love of gardening, and working his many hobbies, especially motorcycles. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in David's name.
