Charles Casel Sr., 69, of Zwingle passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at his home.
Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Otter Creek. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.
Charles Casel was born July 12, 1944 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Christopher and Esther (Kroening) Casel. He was united in marriage on March 3, 1962 to Sally Husemann at St. Raphael Cathedral in Dubuque.
He worked construction for 42 years and farmed in Zwingle all his life. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church in Otter Creek. Charles loved spending time with his family playing cards and poker, he also loved to visit the area casinos. He enjoyed going to his children and grandchildren's ball games and such.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Sally of Zwingle, seven children; Christine (Mike Riggs) Kuhle of Dubuque, Charles Joseph (Caroline) Casel Jr. of Lost Nation, Carol (Karl) Wagner of LaMotte, Connie (Tom Pitz) Vocke of Dubuque, Cecilia (Clarence) Buehl of Maquoketa, Candace (Mike) Doescher of Clinton, Casey (Billie) Casel of Maquoketa, 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, and a very special son-in-law Bill Kuhle of Zwingle
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Michael.
Memorials are preferred.
