Carmilla M. Witt, 93, of Dewitt, formerly of Delmar died Friday, April 1, 2016 at West Wing Nursing Home in De Witt, Iowa.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday April 4 at St. Patrick's Catholics Church in Delmar. Family and friends may call from 3 – 7 p.m. Sunday at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. Vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Delmar.

Carmilla M. Cavanagh was born February 21, 1923 in Petersville, Iowa to Frank and Mary Cavanagh. On December 5, 1942, she was united in marriage to Donald C. Witt in Petersville.

Carmilla was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending time with her large extended family. Her door was always open to those in need of an excellent meal, especially her coconut cream pies. She was a pillar of strength and support to her community.

Carmilla is survived by her four children: Patty (Butch) Grant of Delmar, Nancy (Jim) Kettmann of Bellevue, Dan (Melody) Witt of Delmar, Jack Witt of Chicago, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, brother Pat Cavanagh of Maquoketa, sister Luella Schneden of Davenport, and sister-in-law Myrna Cavanagh of Maquoketa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don and son Tommy, her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
