Bernice A. Edwards, 83, originally of Delmar, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa. Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. A visitation will be held before the service from 12:00 p.m. to the time of the service at Lahey Funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa, Iowa. Bernice Alfrieda was born on August 31, 1932 in Bellevue, Iowa to Edward John William and Alfrieda Caroline (Petersen) Ruchotzke. She graduated from Delmar High School class of 1949. On September 7, 1949 she was united in marriage to Dale Edwards in Charlotte, Iowa. She was a homemaker and mother. Bernice was a member of the Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and did beautiful embroidery work. She liked to read and enjoyed the Readers Digest condensed books. Like many women her family was her real joy. Those left to cherish her memories are her four children; William Edwards of Ames, IA , David (Vickie) Edwards of Alabama, Ronald (Rosemarie) Edwards of Byron Illinois, Bonnie Edwards of Huxley, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers; Marvin Ruchotzke of Maquoketa, Edwin Ruchotzke of Delmar, Former sister-in-law Evelyn Sexton, and former daughter-in-law Janet Cook.
