Ardella Peterson, 94 of Olin, Iowa passed away on February 22, 2016 at the Anamosa Care Center following a short illness.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 26, at 11:00 am at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin with Pastor Barb Krueger officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Friday at Lahey Funeral Home. Burial will be held in the Olin cemetery.

Ardella Hamed Peterson was born January 4, 1922 in Fayette, Iowa, daughter of Samuel and Sheriffe (Jabara) Hamed.

She worked at Century Engineering during World War II manufacturing aerial bomb fuses. After marrying Leo Peterson in McGregor, Iowa on December 20, 1947 she and her husband were in the restaurant business for five years. She worked for Lawson Insurance for a number of years, worked at the United Post Office for 27 years, retiring in 1986 as Post Master. She was a member of the Morley Methodist Church and the Olin chapter if Pythian Sisters. She was an exceptional seamstress and loved golfing, playing bridge, and fishing. She loved spending time with her family and traveling all over the country with her husband.

She is survived by her two children; Linda (Bill) Kennebeck of Trenton, MO, Jim (Diana) Peterson of Monticello, IA, three grandchildren; Jennifer (Jason) Ross of Jensen Beach, FL, Gina (Gary) Hiler of Marion Iowa, John (Jennifer) Kennebeck of Trenton, MO, six great grandchildren; Hannah, Grace, and Ella Kennebeck, Jordan Ross, Mason and Logan Hiler, two sisters; Amy Smelroth of Cedar Rapids, Doris Hamad of Bloomfield, MI, and one brother; Bob Hamed of Lakewood, OH.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and two brothers. She will always be missed, always loved, always remembered.

Memorials may be left in her memory at Jones Medical Regional Rehab and Morley United Methodist Church.
